I was on team attack Carthage
The strongest argument the other team made was was questioning the motives of Rome when they said that Rome didn't have much of a reason to attack Carthage. The strongest argument they didn't make was that Rome would hurt the women and children of Carthage, not just the soldiers. The strongest argument that our team made was that our motives for warring against Carthage was that since they had warred against Carthage twice, Carthage was surely a big threat that needed to be defeated or it might revolt against Rome. The strongest argument we didn't make was that Rome, if it wins, is establishing themselves nation wide as a world power by winning against Carthage, and also a leader in trade.
I think we kept the the teams points in our memory when we responded to their arguments. I think we can work on more equality of who talks the longest or shortest. A goal for next debate is to have an order for talking so that we can make it more equal. |
