One major difference between the constitutions that i notice is the power assigned to the Emperor. In the meiji constitution, the Emperor had far more power than he does now. Another change stems from the emphasis on the Cabinet and their role in advising the Emperor. The Emperor lost all of his power concerning the military forces of Japan, and the right to appoint members in the government.

The expression of rights for citizens and other people in Japan is much clearer in the new constitution. In the new constitution, there are clear rights and freedoms of citizens that are expressed, and supposedly stems from the core beliefs of the Japanese government. That the country is made for, and by the people.
